Logitech M570 Wireless Trackball review: Best ergonomic mouse?

Blog post:
If you’re like me then you are constantly using a computer. These days it’s hard not to. One of the biggest consequences of this, however, is wrist pain and even carpal tunnel syndrome caused by doing the same wrist movements over and over. I was concerned about this because I edit a lot of videos and the process of video editing can take hours and even days. So I decided to do some research and I went out and got the best ergonomic mouse I could find. This is my Logitech M570 Wireless Trackball review.
This mouse is currently less than $30 and has an almost perfect 4.5/5 star rating on Amazon and the link is in the description below for when you want to check it out yourself. The Logitech M570 is not just for people who are specifically looking for an ergonomic mouse, but in my opinion everyone who uses a computer on a daily basis should own this mouse. Here’s why. It’s actually not labeled as a “mouse”. Instead, Logitech calls it a wireless trackball because instead of moving your arm like with a traditional mouse, with the M570 you are rolling this ball around with your thumb to move your mouse across your screen. Having said that, I will still refer to this as a mouse and trackball throughout this video.
Right out of the box, the Logitech M570 works with Windows and Mac. Just connect the unifying receiver to a USB port, turn on the trackball, and you’re ready to start using it. The wireless capability is one of its best features. It can work upwards of 30 feet away from the computer. Also since the tracking sensor is built inside the mouse, it can literally be used on nearly any surface. Or no surface at all. I also love how lightweight it is and the long battery life. It comes with a Duracell AA battery and Logitech claims that one battery can last up to 18 months. I’ve owned this mouse for a few months and I still haven’t needed to replace the battery yet, but I usually turn the mouse off when I’m not using it anyway. The ergonomics is also one of its best features. The way its designed lets your hand rest at a more natural position which should help relieve any wrist pain when using it for long periods of time.
For me, the trackball was very smooth right out of the box. However if it’s not as smooth as you’d like you can pop the ball out and wipe it down with a cotton cloth to make it even smoother. The rubber grips on the bottom give it a sturdy placement on the surface it’s on so the mouse itself doesn’t accidentally move when your hand is resting on it at an angle. The mouse feels great in the hand. On the top it has standard left and right click buttons and a scroll wheel. It also has quick access to forward and back buttons which can be programmed as custom triggers using the free Logitech software. There’s also a battery light indicator as well. The bottom where the battery goes has a slot for the unifying receiver in case you are traveling and don’t want to lose the USB dongle. Pretty convenient.
Really, the only downside is that this trackball is only designed for right-handers, like most mouses. Having said that, for right-handers this is one of the best purchases you’ll make. The Logitech M570 is my go-to mouse when I need a break from my trackpad or my Logitech MX Performance. It is a smooth, long lasting, and comfortable wireless mouse that works great. I highly recommend it because for less than $30 you could potentially avoid long-term pain or damage to your wrists. Again, my Amazon link for this mouse is in the description below so check that out. If you have any questions leave a comment below and give this video a thumbs up if it helped you out. Thanks for watching and I’ll talk to you in the next video.

Years ago: Yea i had a moderate case of CT syndrome, doc diagnosed (if I kept asking her questions she was just going to find more wrong with me). Got the M570, CT gone in (1) week. Now I have two.
i have a problem connecting to unifying do you have the same problem?
Never play game with it. it start to fail on left click. slips and giver nerve feedback.
Just purchased pme before realizing it doesnt move around. I like the concept but I dont know if my thumb is gonna start suffering. I'm gonna have to test it out before returning it 🤔
Frustrated with my Logitech M570. This mouse was excellent when I first purchased it. Really liked the trackball feature.
Now Left Click double-clicking, and Hold and Drag is releasing early, and I don't have the receipt. How is Logitech for standing behind their products?
If they won't replace I'll be disappointed. Not surprised, just disappointed.
What's the best Trackball alternative? Thanks for any reply.
thanks for this
I've been using trackballs for many years and I will never use anything else.
Got this trackball for my work PC. Months later I love it so much I'm getting one for home with my retro gaming LAN. Great tool when playing Half-Life!
I've just ordered my latest one of this fantastic trackerball. I've preferred trackerballs over mice since the 1990s, they don't require a surface to move around on, can even be balanced on a knee (hugely preferable to those horrible touchpads which most laptops come with) and, hopefully have saved my wrist from the dreaded carpal tunnel syndrome. Downsides: the thumb is used to rotate the ball and that could become an issue as I get older; also they rely on the ball rotating smoothly, you can clean out the gunk that develops, but I've found that the balls become slightly less smooth over time. You used to be able to buy replacement balls in the UK but now have to buy from the States or China or buy a new trackerball (they have dropped in price). I was recently forced to use a mouse when on holiday, left the M570 at home, what a pain! I did buy an Elecom trackerball for the left hand (a precaution, should my right-hand be out of use), it is ok but doesn't seem as smooth as the Logitech. Great device, just keep making them Logitech (and one for the left-handed user?).
How do you get this to connect to a MacBook Pro 13" 2019 with 2 Thunderbolt ports?? There arent any usb ports to put the receiver on!? 🙁
I wish the video would have shown everyone how to link it to the wireless
mine is windows 10 can i use this ergonomic mouse for my laptop???
I just bought this mouse from Wal-Mart for $11 and it's freaking fantastic, super accurate, comfortable, and cool looking
Do this work on Chromebook 3
These are a piece of shit. I get 6 months to 1 year before the buttons start to die. DO NOT BUY IT.
I'm left handed -_-
I LOVE this trackball. been using them for years. Great for laptops!
i have used one for the last 5 years for everything from gaming to video editing! i wont use a mouse again. the only problem i have had with mind is the left mouse button always wears out after a year and a half. then i have to buy a new one.
I’m an adaptive lefty. Maybe because I’ve been adapting to a right-handed world since birth, it took my fingers about two minutes to figure it out what to do. I’ve had my M570 for years. I love it! I’d probably have a whole lot more trouble adapting to a purpose-designed left-handed device.
Lefties, you all know what it’s about. For $30, get it. You won’t be sorry. If it doesn’t work for you just send it back.
I am still using mine wired trackman wheel. I bought it at year 2000. Its the only mouse that i had owned since then. Its been almost 20 years and it still worked as if its new. Now the same exact model is selling for over 100 bucks. I spent 35 bucks at year 2000
i feel really awkward using it at first since i'm used to a traditional mouse. wonder if i'll grow to like it. it cost me around $40 canadian money.so yeah..fingers crossed!
Mine has a very clunky scroll wheel. It is also not intuitive on assigning functions to buttons. I've messed around with it for 30 minutes now and still can't get the right button to control-click (on a Mac).
best mouse i ever used in my life. unfortunately usb part seems to be worn off at this point but it's been 4 years already.
this is exactly what I was hoping to find, excellent review. Thanks.
Left handed so I won't get it but thanks and nice video.
jajajaj como creen que se va a comparar duda a wordpress, nada que ver, cada plataforma esta enfocada a un usuario diferente.. jajajaja que tenteras dicen con tal de vender.
what you think is better for video editing;a trackball mouse like this or a wacom tablet?please answer
I was laughing when he said long battery life mine only last for 20 minutes.
er..sorry about this (2:32), but…plural of mouse is 'mice'.
how do you use on the newer macs that only have USB C ports?
I like it, but it's a recipe for carpal tunnel. Your thumb is made to grab in, it doesn't position well inside the palm space. It's a gross motor closing grasp specialist.
English kam jhad
Bro a ball mouse LUL
nice, I avoid damage to my writs developing serous damage to my thumb…
I hope they make all mouses with a trackball, because it is so easy to use + does not hurt my wrist!!!
That's not a mouse.
This shit is stupid
They say 18 month battery, I’ve been on the battery from the box for 4 years now.
mariooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooc
my right hand has deteriorated the past few months from using mouse pretty much every day for years, also play guitar and its effecting my guitar playing when i finger pick will this mouse help me
Good review , but would have liked to seen it being used on the computer to get an idea of movement .
I just bought this mouse but am alreasy having sexond thoughts about it lol. The ball doesn't feel right i expected it to be a smooth roll but it feels like itll be a little jerky in game. Oh well i have a 2 week return warranty so we'll see what happens.
